Writing Excuses
Writing Excuses is a rapid-fire, Hugo Award-winning educational podcast for writers. Originally launched in 2008 by Brandon Sanderson, Dan Wells, and Howard Tayler, it has become one of the most respected and longest-running resources in the writing community. The show’s trademark is its “masterclass in a coffee break” format—episodes are kept strictly to 15–20 minutes.
The podcast aims to provide punchy, actionable advice on the craft and business of writing. By stripping away the fluff, the hosts provide specific techniques that writers can apply to their work immediately after the episode ends.
