Regency Fiction Writers

Regency Fiction Writers

Regency Fiction Writers (RFW) is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to authors who craft stories set in the “long” Regency period, spanning from 1780 to 1840. Originally established as a special interest chapter of the Romance Writers of America, the group became an independent international entity in 2020 to better serve writers across all genres—including mystery, fantasy, thriller, and historical fiction—rather than exclusively romance. RFW provides its members with a rich array of research and craft resources, such as the “Regency Academe” online classes, the “Regency Realm” reference database, and monthly virtual “teas” featuring period experts. By fostering an inclusive community that values both historical accuracy and creative reimagining, the organization helps authors at all career stages navigate the nuances of late Georgian and early Victorian society.
