National Association of Hispanic Journalists

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) is a prominent professional organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of Hispanic and Latino journalists in the United States and Puerto Rico. Established in 1984, the association has grown to include over 4,000 members, ranging from working professionals and educators to students across nearly 50 local chapters. NAHJ’s mission focuses on fostering fair and accurate media treatment of Hispanic communities, promoting the employment of Latino journalists, and providing a unified voice for the industry’s unique cultural identity. Through its cornerstone initiatives—such as the Adelante Academy leadership program, the prestigious Ñ Awards, and the Student Project newsroom training—the organization actively builds a pipeline for the next generation of media leaders while advocating for press freedom and newsroom equity.
