Harbor Review
Harbor Review is an online literary space focused on the intersection of poetry and visual art, published twice annually in the winter and summer. Operated by Small Harbor Publishing, a feminist 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the journal is dedicated to providing a platform for diverse and underrepresented voices. Each poem featured in the review is uniquely paired with an original work of visual art and often includes an audio recording of the author reading their work, creating a multi-sensory experience for the reader.
The publication seeks work that is “strange and beautiful,” valuing unexpected imagery and metaphors that shock or inspire. In addition to its biannual issues, Harbor Review hosts several micro-chapbook competitions—such as the Washburn Prize and the Editor’s Prize—and publishes reviews of poetry, art, and hybrid books. As a paying market, it remains committed to the professional advancement of its contributors while fostering a community that bridges the gap between literary and visual aesthetics.
