Contemporary Romance Writers

Contemporary Romance Writers (CRW) is a global, special-interest writing organization dedicated to authors who craft stories within the massive and ever-evolving contemporary romance genre. Originally established as a chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA), the group voted to disaffiliate in 2021 and now operates as a standalone professional community. CRW supports writers across all sub-genres—including romantic suspense, rom-com, young adult, and “spicy” to inspirational fiction—by providing resources for both traditional and self-publishing paths. The organization is perhaps best known for its annual Stiletto Contest, which recognizes excellence in published and unpublished contemporary romance, as well as its robust schedule of virtual conferences, mentorship programs, and craft-focused workshops.
