The Equity Directory is a vital, free online resource launched in early 2024 by Literary Agents of Change (LAOC), the non-profit arm of the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA). It is specifically designed to provide a centralized, easy-to-navigate database of literary agents who self-identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).

The directory was created to dismantle the long-standing barriers in the publishing industry that have historically marginalized creators of color. By increasing the visibility of BIPOC agents, the platform helps authors and illustrators find advocates who understand their lived experiences and cultural nuances.
